WEG-ging out

Today I got to go on a field trip to the 2010 World Equestrain Game (WEG, for short).  If you aren't a horse enthusiast, or don't live in Kentucky, you may not have heard about this for, oh, the last two years or so.  Here's what you need to know:  It's kind of like the Olympics of horse events.  It's never been held in the United States, and this year, it's being held just an hour away in Lexington!  Visiting the WEG is an opportunity too good to pass up, so this morning we loaded about 200 students on a few buses, and made our way to the games.

There's lots of very interesting horse art.  Here are a few of my favorites:

One of the exhibits gave out free Dippin' Dots samples.  One of my students said it best:  "It's tearing off my tastebuds...but I can't stop eating it!"

We also got to watch a French chef in action.  He had a really good sense of humor, and was a lot of fun to watch.  Added bonus:  sample apple-caramel-cream-brittle dessert.  Yum!

I had to take a pic of this golf cart -- too fun!

And there were plenty of fun photo ops...including me on a horse (complete with lots of "be careful up there" warnings)...

...Colonel Sanders (Mr. KFC) himself...

...and the chance to sit in a 2011 Corvette.  Mike says I look like a natural.  I say that's too bad.  LOL

Before leaving, we had the opportunity to watch a Jumping competition.  The course was beautiful, and I feel very lucky to have been able to see it!

I'll be putting many more pics up on my flickr account later this week.
