Not a room, but...

I'm on a video spree. When I rewound the video I've been using, I found video from the day I found Lola and her sister Pepper. (Pepper is with our Family Consumer Science teacher and her girls.) The video is a little dark because they were in a box, and I didn't want to disturb them too much. But they're so playful and cute! I can't believe this is what they used to look like!

My apartment, day one is listed below.

Vote for Lola

I just entered Lola in the Humane Society's Spay Day contest. Here is the link if you would like to vote for her. Also, if you enter your furry (or feathery) friend, let me know so I can vote for them as well! Lola says thank you in advance! :)

Here are a few of my friends that have entered (you can only vote once for each pet, but you can vote for as many pets as you like):
Kristin's dog, Max
Kristen's dog, Dutchess
Trish's cat, Daisy

Also, there is a new post below.

Enough with the snow days!

Wednesday was a snow day. Thursday was an early dismissal. Today was a snow (well, "ice") day. I really hope it's the last one for the school year! We made the most of it, though. The ice melted off by the afternoon, so we went out to eat at Leono's (best pizza ever)! Then it was off to Big Lots, Peddler's Mall, and Starbucks! This was Mike's first trip to Starbucks (he thinks it's snooty, I think it's yummy). :)

I got to see my parents this week! They were close by for some training, so we went out for dinner. I haven't seen them since Christmas, so it was a great night!

Here are a few layouts that I've been working on:

My owl hoodie! I love it so! I had some owl paper, so I had to use it!

One of my 365 photos (yeah, I might have missed about a month of that -- oops!) Used my SC kit on this
Lola, in all her playfulness!
She's a little hard to see, but Lola is giving me kisses in this photo!

Love this photo! Her tilted head says it all!

I hope everyone has a great day!

An opportunity to make someone's day!

Some of you who are on SIStv may already know about this. Wilna, one of the Fashionistas, is asking people to make a card, and send it to her friend Lois, who is battling cancer. You can find more information about the project here. If you're interested in participating, you can email Wilna at wilna71@gmail.com. I'm going to try to send my card out today -- hopefully she will be bombarded with lots of happy wishes and thoughts!

Yay for weekends!

This weekend was so much fun!

1 - Gmail Chat
I got to chat with the lovely Miss Inka. We talked about Wii, buttons, postcards...I had such a great time talking to her! She told me about this cool website -- postcrossing.com, where you exchange postcards with people from all over the world. (Inka -- I hope you enjoyed your french fries! You have to let me know if you liked the Wii.)

2 - Happy Mail
I'm taking part in the happy mail swap at SIStv! Saturday was a big happy mail day, because I received my goodies from my swap partner, along with two RAK's from other members!

3 - Wedding Photography
I photographed a wedding on Saturday. I think it went really well! They were so sweet! Oh, and I got to drive the bride and groom around until their families gave up trying to block their decorated truck in! (which was just one trip around the block - ha!) I'll share photos soon.

4 - Girls' Night Out
Jenny picked me up after the wedding, and we met up with Leigh at Johnny Carino's. They had a Valentine's Day special going on -- one appetizer, two salads, two entrees, and a dessert for $30. So we decided to split the meal three ways! It was still so much food! Then we met up with Ashley and rushed to the movie theater to see 27 Dresses. Literally, we were running -- coats were left behind, earrings were lost -- it was madness! :) Cute movie, though!
5 - Sleep
I slept for most of the afternoon after church and grocery shopping. It was nice. :)
I hope everyone had a great weekend!
Oh, and I almost forgot -- I was tagged by danielle! Five randoms about me:
  1. I like winter better than summer. That's why snowdays rock!
  2. As of Wednesday, I'm three weeks soda-free!
  3. I am such a nightowl. I have a hard time getting to bed before midnight.
  4. I talk to my mom on the phone nearly every night.
  5. I found my first grey hair on my 17th birthday.
I tag Inka, Sharmaine, and Rhonda.

Tomorrow is a snow day -- I'm off work! And this is the kind of snow I've been waiting for -- it's substancial, and it probably won't melt off by 10 am! I'm so excited I could build a snowman (and I just might)!

Brandy tagged me today! Here are the rules: You have to post the rules before you give your answers. You must list one fact about yourself beginning with each letter of your middle name. (If you don't have a middle name, use your maiden name). After you are tagged, you need to update your blog with your middle name and your answers. At the end of your blog post, you need to tag one person for each letter of your middle name. (Be sure to leave them a comment telling them they've been tagged and that they need to read your blog for details.)

My middle name is ANN.

A - is for artsy-crafty. At least I like to think I am. :) Love scrapbooking, photography, quilting, crochet, sewing, plastic canvas.

N - is for nervous. I can be a nervous Nellie at times. I think I got that from my grandma.

N - is for nerdy. I'm a nerd at heart! I mean, come on -- I have a lifesize Obi-Wan Kenobi (the Ewan McGregor version!) cardboard cutout in the trunk of my car. It used to be in my classroom, but I've moved my school stuff so much this year that he stayed there. I had to protect him from the dumpster, right? :)

And I will tag:

And I tagged you three because I don't know your middle names! :)

Here's my latest scrappy stuff -- I feel like I'm on a roll!

This is another layout I made from my Studio Calico kit! This photo is my reflection in one of my cookware lids!

I love this photo of Mike from last summer. I finally got my hands on some hambly! :)

Lola! I'm journaling the story of how we found each other on the back of the round cards. Love the big purple grungeboard swirl!

I made this page for one of the Winterlicious challenges on SIStv. It's based on those American Express ads with Tina Fey, M. Knight Shyamalan, etc.

This one is based on my love of cover songs!

The story of our first kiss, in comic strip style! Long story short, I had never been kissed when I kissed Mike. I froze. We laugh about it now! :)

I'll post my cards later (I need to play catch up!)

Long time, no blog!

I've been a bad blogger lately! Forgive me!

I woke up with the worst sinus pressure ever a little while ago. Ugh! Feeling a little better, but I feel it lingering.

Good news: I'm still soda-free! I think this is day 12. I'm past the point of cravings - yay!!! The thing that has tripped me up in the past is going out to eat -- I usually want a soda with my dinner, and I usually convince myself if I just have soda when we go out, it's not a big deal. We went out a couple of times this weekend...and I had water! And tea. I'm so proud of myself right now!

Feeling kinda crappy about my job right now. I don't think my principal understands what it is a technology teacher does. From what I have gathered this week, a tech ed teacher should spend the time that she should be teaching putting together a freaking newsletter. That sucks, because I see more meaningless tasks like that in my future: I think I've been labled the "resource" -- the one everyone goes to when they want a project organized in a snazzy way (layout, video, etc). If it is, I'm out of there. Screw it. I didn't go to school only to have my class constantly interrupted for newsletter and video projects.

If you've read this far, I thank you for indulging me in a vent-session! I'll have happier stuff in my next post, promise. :)

Today was a great day!

This is the first day I haven't wanted a soda! No craving. A little headache, but I think it was sinus-related (because Kentucky weather is wonky...it was 60 degrees today...we may have snow by Wednesday night)! Mike was finishing off my soda stash tonight, and I didn't even try to kiss him to get a taste! lol

And it was a great mail day...both on the giving and receiving ends! I sent out a package to my happy mail partner at SIS, plus cards for three swaps. And then I came home to see that the guy in the brown truck had left a package with my neighbor -- my Studio Calico goodies! Cute stuff -- I've already made a page! This has been in my head for a week -- not how I expected it to turn out (I think because I'm not too fond of my handwriting), but I still like it.

Saturday was a great mail day, too! I recieved some lovelies from Veronica's etsy shop. Her stuff is rockin' -- check it out if you haven't already!

And of course, the daily cards. I keep forgetting where I left off with these!

My mom got a new job -- she's so excited about it! :)
I gave up soda on Wednesday...
...the transition was not easy!
We're reading I, Robot in Engineering class. Apparently I am breaking some sort of unwritten rule by not showing the movie! lol (Oh, that's Veronica's robot -- cuteness!)

My Saturday morning was crazy...I had write a couple of checks to pay some bills. Put the "cash" check into the rent envelope. Mailled it. Had to get to the bank by noon to withdraw cash. Called Mike sobbing as I drove home. Got behind the mailman. Prayed he would turn down my driveway -- he did. Retrieved the check!

Have a great day!

I am happy to report...

...that I am four days soda-free! Still a little headachy, but the Excedrin is taking care of that. I'm just trying to take some of the empty calories out of my diet.

So I've been drinking lots of water. My "flavorful" drink (which used to be Dr. Pepper) is this. And this. Seriously yummy stuff!

So of course, today was the perfect day for Mike to bring in a 2-liter of Pepsi. Grrrrr. It's okay, though. I can deal with the temptation. I have 4 cans of soda that have been untouched this week. Take that, soda!
