VBS

Today, I helped Ashley get the 1st grade room ready for Vaction Bible School.  This is my first year working with VBS, so I wasn't sure what to expect.  Little kids kind of scare me.  I think it's because I'm not that great at relating to them.  And as I found out tonight, they're a bit chaotic.  But still not as scary as I thought they would be.  Here's a sample of the decorations from our room.  I (mostly) made the grey bricks under the mantle.  (Yes, they are two different colors.  The marker didn't last, so I had to turn to crayons to finish the job.)

After we finished the room, we went out to lunch, then rewarded ourselves by driving out to the orchard for some ice cream.  Black raspberry chocolate chip -- yes please!  :)

Oh, and I attempted to make fried chicken today.  Not bad, but a little bland.  It made the house smell like grease.  So Mike lit a vanilla cake scented candle.  Now it smells like a funnel cake.

Great job on your bricks...glad you had fun...and love that you rewarded yourselves with ice cream. That's the best reward there is on a hot day!!

I love VBS!!! It will totally wear me out every year, but it's so rewarding - especially when those kids get convicted and decide to give their heart to God! :)
