The one where I rant about WalMart.

Abandon hope, all ye who enter here.

Have I ever told you how much I dislike WalMart?  The answer is "greatly".  Main dislike tonight?  Three lines open.  Only one without an item limit.  Lots of weekly grocery shoppers out tonight (including us).  Also, lots of hollow, dispairing looks on faces.  Specifically my husband's.

Twenty-nine minutes into our thrity minute wait in line (yes, I'm pretty sure it took less time to shop than it took to wait in line) Mike decided he needed a 3Musketeers bar.  I told him this is what WalMart wanted, and if he bought the candy bar, they would win.

They won.

I saw this while I was wasting 30 minutes of my life standing in line.  I am convinced that children are spoiled.  Remember the days of eating through all the "bland" crunch to get to that awesome berry finale?

Those days are gone.

This sight didn't make my evening any better.  Every year, I experience this sad, sinking feeling when I see that the school supplies have been stocked.  My carefree summer days are officially numbered.

Here is my new plan for efficient WalMart shopping:  (1) We get our cart.  (2) I find a spot in line with the cart.  (3) Mike picks up items throughout the store, occasionally stopping by the front to drop items off in said cart.  (4) He finishes shopping.  (5) We move to front of line.

On the plus side, I bought some makeup.  So...that was fun.  :)

Disclaimer: My WalMart experience is meant to be humorous.  Please don't think I'm bitter about it.  I just wish they would utilize a few more of the 20 or so lines available when the line backs up to the clothing department.

Love that you had to put a disclaimer....I just shop at Target...We have a super on 2 minutes from my house. Plus at our Walmart... the one closest to the house { cause I can pick from 3 others in a 20 minute drive from my house....}
We take the risk of getting run over by a shoplifter, shot and killed or mugged. Yep all of those have happened.... One of the security guards took off after a shoplifter, gets run over, his leg gets stuck and then had to be amputated. Sorry for the graphic.... then the news broadcasts that Walmart will not prosecute shoplifters unless it is over $60 so now Everyone just walks in and than out.... Forget the lines!!!!!!!! Crazy. Thanks for sharing. I always love your take on life. Hugs,AMy

I still get that same feeling with school supplies for no real reason other than I love summer and always hate to see it come to an end :(

Yeah, I'm a Target girl too, but sadly Wal-Mart is the only thing really close to us...the closest Target is thirty minutes away..so I try to get what I need when I can there, but always have to end up going to Wal-Mart for something...and I cannot tell you how much I dislike that store..and I don't need a disclaimer..I just don't like it!! LOL

Bad Wal-Mart for making Mike buy my FAVE candy bar... you make me giggle...we one time witnessed a teenager get out of his car in a Wal-Mart parking lot...and just for the heck of it...went over to a BLIND man (I know this - ummmmm because he had his seeing eye doggy with him....) and proceed to WAIL on him... right in the middle of the parking lot in the middle of the day (we were just pulling in at this point and had about 4 cars behind us....)... anywho...I have never seen Brian and about 4 other men throw their vehicles into park soooooooooooo fast...jump out to the blind man's rescue....it was insane....as soon as the teenager saw all these big men coming at him...he stopped beating the heck out of the blind man...and got back in his car and take off....it was insane....absolutely insane...we have a target right next to work and go there sometimes.... but...they seem to ALWAYS only have TWO lines open and ALWAYS have long lines.... so I guess it happens everywhere...LOL :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

We've not even broken up on school holidays here in England yet and they have the school uniform deals on in shops! It's nice seeing views from a teacher in the US, how do you find your job? I teach a similar subject to you in the UK, we call it ICT. Would be great to chat about our different experiences!

you are a girl after my own heart... I hate hate hate those lines.... but I've learned at our Walmart to go through the garden area checkout... for whatever reason they always have 2 open there... and one line... but it seems to go sooooooooo much faster.... don't understand the unwillingness to open a line to for happy shoppers... but it looks like you all have a routine.... happy shopping girlfriend...
