Mmmmmmm...

Hibachi = fun way to spend a meal with friends after church.  Even better:  I have enough leftovers for lunch tomorrow!  I hope you all had a great weekend!

Tonight...

...I made 116 mini muffins for our Sunday School class. Church had better not be cancelled because of snow.* :)

Yes, we actually got snow -- very, very early this morning. I think we got about an inch. More to come later this week, probably Monday night. One of my coworkers told me to enjoy Spring Break, because we'll probably lose those days next week. Sigh. Oh well, Mike and I never get the same Spring Break anyway, so it's not as much fun.

Oh yeah -- I found the cutest dress! Gotta love Maurices, my fave store. I'll share some pics soon.

*Actually, I made 120, but not all of them made it.

Friday Fill-Ins, and stuff about today

  1. I know Mike loves me. And I love him.  :)
  2. April is the longest month. (When you're a teacher.)
  3. You can't help but smille at this video.
  4. There is a threat of snow this weekend; bring it on!
  5. Where have you looked for your keys and actually found them -- the strangest place, anyway?  (Mine were in the car.  Not really strange, but definitely the last place I would think to look.)
  6. The new TAAFOMFT prompt is now available.
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to going out for dinner (maybe?), tomorrow my plans include being inside and staying warm and Sunday, I want to be able to come down from our hill and enter civilization.
Yes, there might be snow.  So it's perfectly logical that school in my county was cancelled.  Preemptively.  :P  Oh well, it's 10 am, and I've managed to finish my next TAAFOMFT layout.  And I'm going to mail out a couple of things I've been meaning to send for over a week.  And return a book to the library for Mike.   And maybe buy a dress.  The reason?  Mike said he wanted to see me in a cute dress, and that he'd buy one for me (I don't wear dresses very often, and my favorites don't fit anymore).  I should probably clean, too, since one of Mike's coworkers is coming over this evening.  Well, at least it should be a relaxing day, maybe even slightly productive.

I had fun starting the day with a civilized breakfast at the table with this lovely little lady:

She's not allowed ON the table, but she's so cute when she sits at the table with us.  (And no, I don't eat brownies for breakfast...well, not usually.  That's a Luna bar and it's better for me than a brownie.  And it's pretty yummy!)  :)

Have a great Friday!

Playlist #2 - songs I run to

I hope I didn't scare you off with my last post.  I know...Ishtar isn't for everyone... :)

I have a new playlist to share.  This is the one I run to.  You know, when the weather is warmer.  I love winter, but only as a spectator, not a participant.  But only a couple of months to go, right?  Sigh.  I'd love a treadmill right about now.

But anyway, whenever I do get back to running, here what I put on my cute pink Shuffle:
  • Spice Girls/"Spice Up Your Life"
  • Meatloaf/"Bat Out of Hell"
  • Ok Go/"Here It Goes Again"
  • Paramore/"Misery Business"
  • Dashboard Confessional/"Again I Go Unnoticed"
  • Matchbox 20/"How Far We've Come"
  • My Chemical Romance/"Helena"
  • The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus/"Face Down"
  • Tilly and the Wall/"Rainbows in the Dark"
  • Rihanna/"Disturbia"
  • High School Musical/"What Time Is It?"
  • Obadiah Parker/"Dirtbombs"
So, what songs get your blood pumping?

Oh, and I'm 11 days soda free!  I'm not really craving it, and the headaches are a thing of the past!

"She said, 'Come look, there's a wardrobe of love in my eyes.'"

I admire my parents for many, many reasons.  One of those reasons is their choice for their favorite movie.

Which movie?  Well, I'm so glad you asked.  :)

Ishtar.

If you're familiar with 80s film history, you might know a little this film.  A comedy starring Dustin Hoffman and Warren Beatty as a songwriting duo (neither of whom are very good at what they do) -- a winning recipe for box office success, right?  Apparently not...it was widely considered a flop...except in my family.  We prefer to believe it was ahead of it's time.  Is it their greatest work?  Probably not.  But watching it is far from a miserable experience.

And now we all know how I came to be just a little off-beat.  :)

Anyway, I found the first 10 minutes of Ishtar on YouTube.  I think you should watch it.  :)  The song lyrics are just so funny!  Enjoy!

This week...

  • ...I don't feel like I need soda (9 days!)
  • ...I can't access my online gradebook.  Well, I can, but the grades have all disappeared.
  • ...I really want to scrapbook.
  • ...I also want to read a book.  Maybe Shopgirl, The Luxe, Confessions of a Shopaholic, or Ella Minnow Pea.
  • ..I need to catch up on blogs (please don't think I'm ignoring you -- Mike has started a new grad class, and I haven't had as much time on the computer).
  • ...I was totally confused by Lost.  Probably because I haven't watched very many episodes.
  • ...I've worn snowboots to work for the last two days because that's what gets me to my car.
  • ...my cat was an awesome footwarmer.
  • ...I'm making a gift for a friend.
  • ...I feel a little stuffy.
  • ...it's supposed to snow on Saturday.
  • ...I would like to make shepherd's pie.
  • ...I'm getting this blog post in just under the wire...posting has not been easy this week.  I feel like I'm running out of things to say.

It's sweater weather!

The new challenge is up over at TAAFOMFT.  We want to know about your favorite outfit.  Or article of clothing, which is the direction I went.  It's been so cold lately, so I've been getting a lot of opportunities to wear my absolute favorite sweater of all time.  My mom wore this in high school.  (I think...or maybe it was college.  Feel free to chime in Mom.)  :)   I found the sweater buried in the back of a closet when I was in high school.  It's so warm, and it goes with everything (okay, probably not everything...).  It found it's way to the back of my closet for a couple of years, but I rediscovered it when we moved earlier this year.

Aren't pink and brown just so pretty together?  :)  I've been hanging on to that Basic Grey paper for such a long time.
