The Hunger Games...and Chinese food

I hope you all had a great Monday!  Mine was good.  The new coffee cup is working out nicely.  It holds in heat, unlike my last one, so I got to enjoy coffee during 1st period -- this never happens).

It's funny -- we're in the midst of scheduling at the moment.  There are some freshmen -- who I was pretty sure despised my class -- coming up to me today to let me know they signed up for the next level technology class.  Let me rephrase that -- excitedly telling me they signed up for the next level technology class. They can be funny little creatures sometimes.  :)

I checked out The Hunger Games from the school library today.  True story -- I walked over to the Cs and started looking for "Collins".  I didn't see the book, but just as I gave up my search, the librarian yelled over to me (it's okay, there only kids in there were student aides) and said, "Mrs. Bess, you need to read The Hunger Games."  She's good!  I think I'll have some extra time later this week, so there will probaby be time for that.

I made it through my semi-annual dentist visit.  No cavities, and now my teeth feel squeaky clean.

Tonight we made Chinese food...beef and broccoli to be exact.  The recipe came from Chinese Cooking for Dummies.  I think I've said before that Mike is very good at this.  This was my first effort, though, and I'm really happy with how it turned out.  (On a related note, we have another cookbook that came with a wok we used to own that actually lists msg as an ingredient. Blech.)

Hope your Monday was spectacular!

the Hunger Games is one of my favorite books - such a unique concept! I have also read Catching Fire, the sequel. Both are super reads! Hope you enjoy it!
