I love making a mess...

Just wanted to share a page I just finished for this week's Scrapping the Music. Highlighting the mess in my scraproom. Love being able to do that! :)

Keeping this short and sweet, mainly because I don't feel so great. Off to attempt to sleep my way through this upper respiratory infection.

Bourbon Chase Road Trip -- Saturday Morning

I woke up Saturday morning to find that Mike had texted me sometime around 6:30 to say that he would start his 2nd leg in about 30 minutes. So by the time I was awake, he was already running. (We had no plans of catching the 2nd leg...I wish I had heard the text so I could have texted him back to tell him good luck.) The runners went to Jeff' (the one who got rained on in the previous post)'s house to clean up and get a couple hours sleep. And that's about all the sleep they got.

So, we got ready, put on our matchy-matchy (matchy) "Roadkill Wives" t-shirts (oh, I forgot to mention that they named their team "Team Roadkill"), and packed up the vehicle.

But before we left, we needed breakfast. Lots of older, burly guys in the motel lobby, and we got the feeling they hadn't seen females in a very long time...lots of stares. Maybe it was the matchy-matchy (matchy) t-shirts that said something about roadkill. :)

And, of course, it's not a real road trip until you see something kinda bizarre. And get your picture taken with it. For us, it was the fire hydrant in front of the motel that was painted to look like a sheriff.

And then we set outto find where the guys' (and Joanna's) 3rd leg would start. That took us to the Frankfort area...beautiful scenery! If you are ever in Kentucky, please, please, please take a drive through horse-country. It's breath-taking.

So, after figuring out where we needed to be, we still had some time to kill before the team got started. So we went shopping. :) I love this photo of Ashley (who's maiden name is the same as another famous Ashley with Kentucky roots).

After a little while, we got a call from the guys saying they would be a Johnny Carino's if we wanted to join them. The three of us are big fans of The Office, so the idea of them eating Italian food conjured up images of Michael Scott's carbo-loading from the "Fun Run" episode.

We showed up to an almost empty restauraunt. (Some people close a place down...our guys get there so early they open the place up!) The exhaustion was evident...and they all had one more run to go.

At least Joanna was still perky! :)

Our server was awesome -- she snapped a picture of all of us together before we left.

Oh, and we picked up the 4th member of our group -- Alisha!

Mike showed off his secret to staying warm.

We finally used our signs! Notice Brian's sideways-jazz-hands running technique (take that, Chi Running)...

...which Ashley was kind enough to re-enact. :)

And then it was time to go our separate ways...even though we were more or less heading to the same place...

Next up: modeling t-shirts, waiting in empty driveways to ambush our husbands, and the big finish!

TAAFOMFT...that time again!

New challenge (actually, a few days old -- ooops!) over at TAAFOMFT: your favorite season. Mine is without a doubt, Fall. It's the only time of year that I love the commute home...yay for all those vibrant colors (the commute is especially fantastic when a great song is playing...today's was Colin Hay's Beautiful World). So, I have decided to make a mini album dedicated to my love of all things Fall. So far it's empty, but I should have lots to share by winter.

Oh, and my house smells like cranberry-walnut oatmeal cookies right now. A Fall scent. I'm a happy girl right now.

Bourbon Chase Road Trip -- Friday Night

Last Friday night, I went on a road trip with two fantastic girls (we picked up another fantastic girl along the way...more on that in my next post). Our husbands were running in the Bourbon Chase -- a 200-mile relay that goes along the Bourbon Trail in central Kentucky. I'm pretty sure we might have been the only consistent cheering section to follow a team throughout the race. Which makes us pretty awesome. :)

Ashley, Tiffeney, and I left from Ashley's house around 4 on Friday evening. Our goal was to catch each of our husbands (and Mike's cousin) as they ran. Their legs didn't start until around 8 that evening, so it gave us a little time.

We saw interesting things (if you look very closely, you'll see that someone has drawn Wilson from Castaway in the dust on the back of the trailer).

We had a little time to stop and eat...

...and stop for ice cream and directions at Sonic. Ashley's aunt Doris met up with us so we knew where to stop.

The first runner we stopped to cheer on was Mike's cousin Joanna. Actually we had to stop several times, because she was going too fast for us. Definitely a good thing. :)

We stopped at Kroger for the group photo.

And one more with Ashley and Doris.

Then we drove on to catch Mike on his first leg. There was a lot of waiting going on. So we took silly pictures.

And cute pictures. :)

We kept checking in with the van.

Oh, and why did Ashley feel the need to jump out and take a picture of the stop sign?

Because of the ginormous bullet hole going through it. Yes, we were in the middle of nowhere.

It was difficult to take pictures at night, so this is the best one I got of Mike.

Our itenerary for the night...

Proof that we were in the middle of nowhere during Brian's (Tiffeney's husband) leg...or so we thought...

While waiting for the next runner, we realized the previous place was a metropolis by comparison.

As we were waiting for the last of the first legs to finish up, we met up with the van at a gas station. The guy in this picture is Jeff, our former youth minister. Poor guy was the only one who had to run through the cold rain.

Finally, Forrest (Ashley's husband) made it past our vehicle. Oh, funny story. Apparently, the gas station we were waiting at is frequented by prostitutes. And we were sitting in the parking lot for about 20 minutes or so. Thank goodness we weren't solicited!

After Forrest finished his leg, the team loaded up to get some sleep (a whopping two hours!) while the guys in the other van did their running.

It's a good thing, because we were sleepy. :)

So we checked in to our motel for the night.

Next up: a fire hydrant, Ashley Judd, and awesome t-shirtness. :)

September Photos

First, the 365 photos. I'm going to admit that I've been a little lazy this month, and there were too many times that I remembered to take the photo at 11 pm. But, I'm still proud of myself for keeping up with this project for the 3rd month in a row. October will be better.

Then, the mugshots. This month, I stopped uploading to Daily Mugshot consistently. I just can't keep up with getting a photo uploaded before midnight every single day. I'll still upload when I can remember to, but I'm not going to stress myself out over it (because, remember Bekka, this is supposed to be fun!) :)

And finally, the banners. Only two this month. Really, I imagined the powers that be changed them out more frequently before I started this project.

Now, if you'll excuse me, the first banner of October is waiting for me. :)
