Three things that made me happy today.

A flower -- the first one I've seen this year...

...a temperature reading of 56 degrees...

...and short sleeves.  Hello Spring!

Last night and today

Last night I...
  • went out with Ashley and her sister and mom to see Leap Year.  cute movie.  the Irish accent is my favorite.
  • Had Coldstone ice cream for the first time.  (I know, I can't believe that either!) chocolate with chocolate shavings and roasted almonds mixed in.
  • got into a discussion about feminism when I met up with Mike and a coupe of his coworkers later.
  • had The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins recommended to me.

Today I...
  • eased into my day.  i hesitate to say "If only every day could begin this way" because I had several days in a row like that.  i called them snow days, and we know how I feel about them
  • went to town with Mike and did some shopping while he did some research.
  • thought it was really cute that he wanted to drive together so he could be around me.
  • found two cute tops and two pair of earrings on sale.
  • replaced my old perfect travel mug (which recently started leaking, rendering it imperfect) with my new perfect travel mug.  it's purple.
  • bought season 2 of Flight of the Conchords.  wept a little on the inside when I realized there wouldn't be a season 3
  • went out to dinner at Alfalfa with Jed and Amanda.  it had that nice artsy/hippie feel to it, kind of like Casa Nueva in Athens, OH.  note to self: must revisit both.

Friday Fill-Ins

  1. Why are you making dinner and not inviting me over?  :)
  2. I want you to take a fun self- portrait of yourself. (Here's an oldie-but-goodie.)  --->
  3. If I decide to use words, then it will be on my terms.  (Ah, puns.)
  4. Pull out your scrap supplies and see what happens.
  5. I could use a Godiva raspberry-filled chocolate bar.
  6. Paint your fingernails and then paint your toenails.
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to a girls' night with Ashley, tomorrow my plans include a trip to Maurices, and Sunday, I want to pick up season 2 of Flight of the Conchords!

Did I ever tell you about the time...

...I saw Elvis while having dinner at a scrapbooking crop?

Really, I don't think there's anything else I can say.  :)

Awkward fun.

During our coffee time with Janey a few weeks ago, she taught me some new (to me) hand signals recently, and I've been meaning to share.

The "Awkward Turtle".  An excellent way to break the tension when a conversation goes...well...awkward.

What if the Awkward Turtle doesn't help, and the awkward nature of the conversation escalates?  Well, then you bring out the "Awkward Turtle Making Awkward Babies".

Something creepy is mentioned?  Perfect time for the Shady Palm.

Mike and I have actually been able to use these a time or two.  And I think we're the only ones we know who get it, so that makes it just a bit more fun.  :)

To answer your question, Sarah...

...I love watching The Office.  :)

Can't wait for this Thursday!  I mean, the Winter Olympics were great and all, but I missed The Office so much.

Butterfly Crafts March Visual Challenge

I'm so excited today because I get to share my first Butterfly Crafts DT layout with you!

Head on over there and check out this month's sketch!

This was a fun one, and I'm really glad I was able to find a way to fit all these pictures from the dinner party back in January on one page.  Also, I'm getting a little obsessed with paper doilies.  I notice they seem to be popping up on most of my projects.

Today I am out of the classroom, spending the day at a training.  I am quite happy about this, as the training is less than 10 minutes away from my house, as opposed to my usual 30-minute commute.  And I will be home by the time I normally leave school.  Have a great day!
