- Tomorrow I get to go into town, after being snowed in all week!
- The electricity only went out for a few minutes the other night.
- I'm looking forward to our church's couples retreat in March. It's going to be a Fireproof study led by a local fire department chaplain. With some caving and hiking thrown in.
- My back feels better after sledding on Wednesday.
- I made two scrapbook pages last night.
- Very thankful that my brother had a place to stay when his campus shut down. So blessed that a family was kind enough to take in a college student sight-unseen (or maybe smell-unsmelled, as he didn't have any hot water for a couple of days...)
- Fun cabin-fever inspired discussions with Mike. "Do you think tri-cornered hats will ever make a comeback?"
- The John Adams miniseries was very good, even for a non-history person like me. (Oh, and now the previous item kinda makes sense...)
- There is a chicken strip in the refrigerator with my name on it.

Diptych. I have to check the spelling every time I type it.
I'm excited about starting this project. I had no idea what a diptych was before this week.
(Side note: when you see something hyperlinked like the links above, do you think the hyperlinked words in a game show announcer voice? I do. Okay, side note over.)
I paired up with this lady over at SIS, and we each assembled a list of 15 words. We're going to alternate lists daily. Today's word was "glass". My photo is on the left and Aimee's is on the right.

Christmas Recap: Part 2
While every other teacher I know started their break on December 19th, our school went right up until Christmas Eve. Rumor has it that we were the only school in Kentucky and Ohio to be in session on the 23rd.
But we all made it through.
I only have a couple of photos to share. I was more focused on giving tests.
My desk tree. I heart the green.
And a lovely cupcake that one of my broadcasting students made. It was so cute I almost couldn't eat it. Almost. :)
Oh, and I stopped by the board office on my way home to pick up this for my classroom. I got to play with it over break, and it was fun!!!

Christmas Recap: Part 1
I'll start the Christmas recap with December 20th and 21st.
The morning started with two tall raspberry mochas. (Yes, TWO. Mike had his first coffee-based drink. Never would have expected this.)
And we hit the road, bound for Ohio.
Mike was driving. A good thing, because I am convinced that he takes a new route every time. I don't think I could tell you how to get to my in-laws' house, and we've been married for 4 1/2 years!
Mike drives. I take pictures. That's the deal.
At this point, we detoured through Huntington. I played with camera settings. I like this one.
Then we entered Ohio to meet my brother-in-law for lunch.
While we were in the restaurant, Mike asked me what was wrong with my lips. I had no idea what he was talking about, and assumed they might have been a little chapped. Turns out, I was having an allergic reaction to my lip gloss. I've been using it for months...not sure what happened. Thank goodness it went away quickly. I did not have clown lips for the entire weekend.
Saw this on the way and thankfully got my camera out in time.
So we made it to the in-laws'. Hung out, had some KFC for dinner. No photos to share of that.
Then it was gift time. My brother-in-law was in charge of handing out gifts.
He takes his job seriously. :)
Mike and his sister.
Now just his sister. :)
My mother-in-law. I feel very lucky to have a mother-in-law that I get along with.
This is what my father-in-law does. He's like me, but with videotapes instead of memory cards. :)
And the Bess family photo. I had already changed into my PJs at this point, so I decided against setting up the tripod so I could be included. Oh, and can you tell that my brother-in-law is a ham? :)
We drove back on Sunday, after going to the most awesome antique store ever. That's where I got that cute red flower pin from a few posts back.
Next up, Monday and Tuesday. Otherwise known as "those not so great two days where I had to work and Mike did not".
