A Public Service Announcement + Joy + Song

This is my public service announcement for the Christmas season:  Please try to get over petty disagreements for at least one day of the year, if for no other reason than so those around you can enjoy this special time of year without feeling awkward.  Families should celebrate the season together -- it's seems so wrong that people can't seem to put aside differences in the spirit of the Christmas season.

Okay, stepping off my soapbox now.  On to more joyful things!  :)

Joy 28: A funny bowl.  Like the one Mike's salad came in at TGIFridays.  Mine came in a normal bowl.  We would have happily traded.

Joy 29: Cameras for Christmas.  Tonight, my mother-in-law gave me the Polaroid Land Camera on the left (she originally bought it to use the carrying case, long before she knew about my love of vintage cameras). Mike's grandpa gave me the Baby Brownie on the right -- it was one of the first cameras he ever owned.

Joy 30: Pretty photo mistakes.  I tried to get a picture of the tree while we were at Mike's grandpa's house tonight.  The photo with the most problems turned out to be my favorite.

------------------------------------------------------

What can I say...I really like "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen".  Earlier this month, I posted the BNL version of the song.  Tonight, enjoy Relient K's rendition.

Shopping took a lot out of me...

...so just a quick post tonight.

 -------------------------------------------------------

Joy 26 - Lola's morning routine.  This mostly involves sleeping at the foot of the bed, waiting for me to turn off the humidifier so she can watch it bubble.  Whatever gets you going in the morning...

Joy 27 - Pretty vintage ornaments.  This pic is from the tree in my friend's dining room.  Those are her grandmother's ornaments.

 -------------------------------------------------------

Tongiht, Clay Aiken's version of "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem".  One of my mom's favorites.

In case you missed it + Joy + Song

Don't forget to check out my previous post about a guest blogging spot, just in case you missed it.  I have a few people who have expressed interest, but I'd love to have more of you participate!  (I'm so obsessive about keeping the blogging coming every day...but I'll probably need your help.)

----------------------------------------------------------

Joy 22:  A sweet treat.  I found real Coca-Cola (the kind bottled in Mexico and made with sugar) while shopping the other day, and decided to save it for a special occasion.  A special occasion like having a bacon sandwich for lunch on the third snow day of the school year.  That's special, right?

Joy 23: Cabin fever can be fun.  Even though we were in civilization just yesterday (work counts as civilization, I suppose), cabin fever started to set in today.  Thank goodness I married a guy with an amazing sense of humor.  This might be my favorite photo I've ever taken of him.

Joy 24:  Chips and salsa.  Why do I actually order food when I go out for Mexican?  I could get by on the chips and salsa alone.  Although I did have a nice order of carnitas.

Joy 25: The escape from cabin fever.  Sometimes, you just have to stop being cooped up at your own house, and coop yourself up at someone else's house for a few hours.  Dominoes are a must.

----------------------------------------------------------

Tonight's song is a little more Josh Groban...and a little more "song included at our wedding".  One of my absolute favorites...but I associate it with my wedding day, so I sometimes forget that it's totally appropriate for this time of year.

Call for guest posts

Just wondering if any of my wonderful blog friends would be interested in writing a guest post on my blog after Liam is born?   Let me know in the comments or by emailing me at bekkabess [at] gmail [dot] com.

I'm not picky about topics...just about anything is fair game.  As far as a time frame goes, I'd like to have posts ready to go by mid-February (even if I'm not ready to go by then...LOL).

Weather + Joy + Song

If the weather forecast is correct, then today was my Monday, hump day, and Friday all rolled into one.  The mindset at school today was that we wouldn't be seeing each other again this week.  So, now I look out the window every so often.  And wait.  (And after I finished typing, I checked outside again and found our walkway covered.)

----------------------------------------------------

Joy 19: The Tree.  We finally decorated it.  Just so you know, this is a big deal because it doesn't happen every year.  But it's so nice to have all the decorations out!

Joy 20: Sorting baby things.  So tiny. So cute. What else is there to say?

Joy 21:  Santa comes early.  Secret Santa, that is.  Secret Santa exchange was supposed to start tomorrow, but my Santa gave me some treats today...I assume because he or she made some school-closing predictions.

Tonight...classic Mariah.  Enjoy!

Oh what a night!

I spent last night waking up every two hours to check on my sick husband.  I considered it good practice for what life will be like when Liam gets here.  But it was a long night, sleeping on the couch to avoid catching anything (if he was indeed contagious).  And waking up every two hours to check his temperature.  Thankfully, the fever and stomach issues only lasted a few hours.  He was (mostly) back to his old self this morning.

Also, because of last night's ordeal, we have a new rule in the Bess household:  No leftover McDonald's under any circumstance.  Ever.  (And for the record, one of us has always followed that rule.)

------------------------------------------------------------

Now for some joy!

Joy 16: Mike's sense of humor.  You just have to read a couple of his status updates from the other night to realize just how funny he is.   There are many things I love about him, but his sense of humor ranks high.

Joy 17: Time for a relaxing breakfast.  Most days, breakfast is a granola bar on the way to school, or oatmeal while on morning hallway duty.  Yesterday morning, I was able to have a relaxing breakfast that had no responsibilities attached to it.  It was lovely.

Joy 18: Crochet.  I found out about this tutorial thanks to Katie.  I haven't tried to crochet anything in a couple of months.  The last time, I was almost in tears because my hands started cramping and I couldn't seem to get the pattern right.  This time was much better.  Plus, I have a cute flower to show for it.

------------------------------------------------------------

Tonight's song is from Veggie Tales.  I adore Bob and Larry, and the video is so funny...especially the part about the IRS.

Coolest baby shower activity ever!

We painted onesies at my shower on Saturday.  It was so much fun!  I wanted to share some pics of the creations (and their creators).

I won't overload you, but if you want to see more pics from the shower, you can find them here.

I know this is a love it or hate it kind of song...I'm in the "love it" category.  :)
