Butterfly Crafts May Written Challenge

The new written challenge is up over at Butterfly Crafts!  Create a layout using at least three of the following: yellow, red, bees, buttons, brown, glitter, pearls, banner, ink, stamping, any Nikki Sivils product (who, btw, is sponsoring the prize this month).  I used yellow, brown, a very light gray catseye ink, and buttons to make the layout below.  I hope you'll join in!

And seriously, how fantastic is that yellow necklace? :)  It's one of my favorites!

Fave Book - TAAFOMFT

The new challenge is up -- what's your favorite book?  I decided to take a different twist on this challenge...instead of a layout about my favorite book, I decided to give my favorite book a makeover.*  This is the Bible that my mom gave me for my 18th birthday.  I'm almost 30, and I'm starting to feel like the student Bible look is a bit dated.  Also, I've been keeping it in a zipper cover for years now, and for some reason, I have this mental thing where if I zip something up, it stays there undisturbed.  So I definitely need to get my Bible out of there.  Plus, I love an excuse to put contact paper on something.  Anything.  :)

So I used a little woodgrain contact paper, some cute gaffer tape, a plastic doily, and a felt flower I made a while ago and made this:

So head on over to TAAFOMFT and check out what the other DT members did.  And then join us!  :)

*Please, please, please don't think I'm being superficial when I say that I want to give my Bible a makeover.  I promise I don't mean for it to sound that way.

"Knife and Fork" night (edited to add Friday Fill-Ins)

  1. I just had a great time with some wonderful people from church.
  2. The weekend is.
  3. The third sentence on the 7th page of the book I'm reading: "They look at her a long time before approaching, and when they do find something about her that they want, it is something simple within her".
  4. Mike tickles my fancy.
  5. I was walking for exercise a few days ago...I need to do that again now that the weather has improved.
  6. Jimmy Fallon makes me laugh!
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to firepit night, tomorrow my plans include seeing my famiy and Sunday, I want to relax!

I'm feeling a little stress melting away.  Slowly.  Two things were crossed off my list today -- the current work week, and hosting the Knife and Fork meal for May.  (Knife and Fork is where we are grouped with three or four other couples from church, and have dinner at each others houses once a month.)  I get stressed out so easily.  Seriously, it wasn't that difficult.  And, tonight marked the start of Firepit Season 2010!  We didn't think that was going to happen, but we were very blessed that the forecast didn't go as expected.  Here are a few photos from tonight.

Oh, and we now own two card tables and eight folding chairs. So that's exciting.

Hipstamatic...for those frustating moments in life.

I wanted to write a post where I list all the stuff that's getting to me at the moment.  Work has been stressful and exhausting this week.  All I want to do right now is curl up in a ball on the couch and watch tv.  And I started writing all that stuff out, and didn't feel any better.  So here are some hipstamatic photos instead.  They make me much happier than a list of work crap.

I should relax I guess...tomorrow is Friday, afterall.  (It is Friday, right?  Please, please, please say it's Friday!)

The neighbors are going to think I'm crazy.

Because we have a tiny bunny that lives under our porch.  No, that's not the crazy part.  The crazy kicks in when I stop in my tracks, squeal "bunny!", and point.  But really, what else are you supposed to do when you see a cute itty bitty bunny rabbit?

This is the best photo I've gotten of him (her?) so far.  Look very close at the center of the photo.  (If you're having trouble seeing it, click here -- I have it tagged on my flickr page.)

Eight dollars well-spent

I told you I actually bought something at the Peddler's Mall over the weekend.  Can you believe it?  It's a Polaroid Land Swinger.

Unfortunately, there's no way for me to take photos with this little beauty.  But it's so cute that I don't even care.

In other news, I got to run today.  Considering that the forcast was rain, rain, and more rain this week, I was pleasantly surprised.  I can't think of a better way to wind down after a very long day of state testing, teaching without a planning period, and tutoring.  Well, except for ice cream for dinner.  (I'm very happy so many of you agree!)

List! Yay!

  • I love it when Lola sleeps like this.
  • Check out my guest post over on Amy Lapi's blog.
  • State testing begins tomorrow.  Good news: I donated $10 to Relay for Life, get to wear jeans all week.  Bad news;  I lose my planning period for the rest of the week.
  • I actually bought something from the Peddler's Mall, rather than just taking a picture of it.  I'll share it with you tomorrow.
  • There's a little game going on at TAAFOMFT.  The rules are pretty simple, so you should check it out!  :)
  • I've decided that I want an Instax camera for my birthday.  You know, since my mom has been asking me for gift ideas.
  • Tonight's dinner consisted of ice cream and chips.  I am neither proud nor ashamed of this.  I blame it on a bad case of the Mondays.
  • I've lost track of how long it's been since my last soda.  Kinda wanted one last week, but I wanted to keep the streak going more.  Yay for not caving.
  • And now I feel like Lola did in the picture.  Goodnight.  :)
