New favorite music

So ever since Mike came back from NY, I've been on a musical kick.  Wicked is coming to Louisville next month -- I really want to see it.

Which leads me to some new favorite music -- Idina Menzel.  She has this fantastic voice, and I had no idea she had an album.  I think I'll have to start watching Glee now (something I've been meaning to do anyway).

Friday Fill-Ins

(I'm posting this from my phone, so I can't format my answers.)




1. In 1992, I was in the 6th grade, and probably the only girl in my class who didn't care about NKOTB and didn't watch 90210.
2. I hope today is full of laughter and smiles.
3. Do what you are led to do, with what you are given, where you are.
4. Summer vacation is where I'd like to be.
5. The trees and flowers are telling me to buy tissues and allergy meds.
6. I enjoy a coffee-fueled night of scrapbooking that just keeps going on.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to seeing my brother, tomorrow my plans include quality time with Mike, and Sunday, I want get together with the Roadkill Wives!

So I had this plan...

...of making lots of scrapbook pges today and showing them off. Then I started cleaning. So, no pages. But a clean living room and kitchen are just as nice, right?

Hey, tomorrow is Friday! Normally I would celebrate this. But it's spring break, so not so much. :)

A spring break trip to the Peddler's Mall

I think I go to the Peddler's Mall for the sole purpose of taking pictures of cute things and putting them on my blog.  I'm hoping you all don't mind.  My bank account doesn't seem to.  :)

This was just so shiny and delicate and lovely.

I never use these. So why do I want one?

This is just perfect for Spring.

An April shower, this was not.

First of all, let me just say:  IT'S FINALLY SPRING BREAK!!!!

And with Spring, you get the occasional storm.  Mike is the type of guy who likes to sit out on the porch and watch a storm as it passes.  I'm the type of person who perfers staying safely inside.  Yesterday evening, it became dark and windy outside.  Mike weather.  I was inside when Mike ran in the house and told me to go down to the basement.  This is what he saw:

The cloud wasn't the scary thing...it was that the cloud was moving in one direction, and the wind was blowing in the other.  Not a promising combination. 

After a few minutes, it passed to the other side of the house.  That's when we felt brave enough to go outside with the camera.  (You always wonder who those people are that videotape severe weather, right? I never suspected it was us.)  Now, it didn't actually form into a tornado, but I'm reasonably certain this is as close as I want to get to one.

My mom kinda yelled at me on Facebook last night...from the next-to-last photo, it looks like we're far away from our house...actually, we were right next to it.  That's someone else's house, I promise. 

I've been spending lots of time here...getting ready...

On April 17th, I will be taking a step toward meeting one of my 2010 goals...run a 10K.  I guess a great place to start would be a 5K, right?  This will be my first 5K of the year, and the running bug is starting to bite.  I thought I'd love my zest for running last year...when we moved out of town, I hated the idea of driving across town just to go for a run -- I was very spoiled by being able to walk out the front door and run down the street. But, last summer Mike finished his mountain bike trail in the backyard, and it's the perfect place to run.  (I was too out of the habit to start back in earnest last year.)  Once the weather became all nice and springy, I started getting back into it.  I'm still not where I would like to be (which is able to run 3.1 miles without stopping), but I can tell a huge change in my endurance in a very short amount of time.  That's one of my favorite things about running. 

I thought I'd take an opportunity to share Mike's backyard creation.  He's very proud of it, and it's really quite impressive.  Our back yard is a few acres of pasture...when we bought the house, the neighbors started asking what we planned on doing with it.  Everyone around us has cows...Mike was hesitiant to say "ride bikes".  But I think we're putting it to good use. 

And over the weekend I made my own contribution.  There's one spot on the trail that stays muddy all the time.  Seriously , the pond will dry up before this spot will (although the pond has a leak...but anyway...).  So Mike and I gathered some rocks we'd been meaning to move off the trail anyway, and I made this little stone path over the muddy spot.

Yesterday, Mike brought out the bike for the first time this year and got some use out of the trail. 

Oh, and I saw bunnies during our walk Saturday evening.  I love it here!  :)
