A Thursday list

• I'm at that point in the school year where I'm losing motivation. 
• This is my desk.  See what I mean:

• Watching The Office with Ashley and Forrest was fun.  So was cheesecake.  :)
• We have a tiny bunny living under the porch.  He like tomato plants.
• Tomorrow is Jean Day.  Next week is Jean Week.  (My friend Carolyn and I have this joke about Jean Week, the wonderful lady that visits our school this time of year.)
• Mike and I pulled the riding lawn mower out of a muddy spot on Monday.  Me on the mower hitting the gas, Mike pulling the rope attached to it.  We're pretty awesome like that.
• I got my work laptop today.  It will soon have Adobe CS4.  It also has Windows 7, which -- for the record -- was totally my idea.
• I rocked the yellow necklace for the first time this spring.  Funny how something so plastic is my go-to accessory.  I think yellow goes with everything. 

• I might go to prom this weekend.  (Yes, Sarah, that means pretty dress!)  :)

Did you know I have an audience when I go for a run? 

The neighbors' cows.  Lately, they've gotten brave enough to come right up to the fence and stare.  I imagine my presence irritates them.  And/or arouses their curiousity.  When several of them line up at the fence, I imagine they're saying (or, mooing?) "Godspeed, Bekka." 

My mind wanders to strange and wonderful places when I run.

How was your day?  School was still not in session for me.  Mike was back as predicted.  I took a backroad to get to town -- my adventure for the week.  I bought a pair of pants, a skirt, and a summer top -- all on clearance.  Today was Teacher Appreciation Day...I day I now know is best celebrated outside the classroom (ooops...there goes my chance at Disney Teacher of the Year).  Applebee's was especially nice to my profession...a free entree for teachers all day!  It was funny...you could tell almost everyone in the restaurant tonight was a teacher.  I guess we all just have a certain look about us...exhausted...crazy...on-edge (you have to forgive me...I get this way at the end of the school year).  And I have hipstamatics to share!  Just a few things from the backyard and around the house. 

And now it's bedtime.  I'm getting mixed messages about the school situation for tomorrow, so I should be rested just in case. 

Bright, bright, bright sun shiny day!

Today was certainly sunny!  The ground dried up a lot faster than I thought it would.  The rivers are still high, though.  Mike and I were both out of school today.  From what I hear, it's quite possible I'll be out tomorrow.  Mike thinks he'll be back in session.  Time will tell.  There are some places that are in bad shape.  And the river in the town where I work isn't expected to crest until sometime tomorrow or Wednesday. 

We have a pond in the back yard.  It will only be there for a few days.  It should be a permanent pond, but it has leakage issues, so we only get a pond after a big rain.  I took some pictures this evening to share.

We also found a drowned cat :( , but I decided against taking pictures of that.  (Don't worry -- it wasn't Lola!)
In other news, today I finally bought the hipstamatic app for my phone.  I'm having so much fun playing around with it!  I'll try to share some pics tomorrow night.  Yesterday I organized my scraproom.  Oh, and I got caught up on reading blogs!

Saturated.

It's been raining this weekend.  A lot. So much so that there are several flood watches and warnings in effect for the area (several nearby rivers are expected to crest over the next two days).  Many local schools have already cancelled for tomorrow.  (Based on the ones that have already called off, I would venture to say that at the very least, Mike will be home tomorrow.)  One of my friends had to evacuate her home earlier today, because otherwise she would have been trapped.  Several people we know are dealing with flooded basements.  We're lucky...so far all we're dealing with is a series of small leaks along the outer wall of our garage.  (Living on a hill might be tricky in the winter, but it's not so bad during times like this.)

Here are a couple of shots from the drive back from church this morning.  It's not as close to the road as it looks, but the water is still pretty high.  It's rained pretty consistently since then, and now (11:00 pm) it's finally starting to taper off.

On the plus side, our pond with leakage issues is full, if only for a few days.  I'll share pics of that when things dry up enough to walk back there.

If you'd like to say a prayer or two for those affected by this nasty weather, I'm sure they won't mind.  Here's to a sun-shiny Monday!

Butterfly Crafts challenge...and a pony. It is Derby day after all.

The new challenge is up at Butterfly Crafts.  The first challenge of the month is a visual challnge, and this one is based on a sketch.  Head on over to check it out!  This was a quick photo I snapped from my phone on Easter.  I think it's one of my favorites.  :)  And I am just loving all of the pretty pastel papers and embellishments that are available right now. 

In honor of the Kentucky Derby, I should share a picture of a pony.  A pony that aggravated my allergies in the worst way. 

So cute...so sneeze-inducing.  He was at school as part of the FFA booth for the Unite to Read program.  To be fair, it wasn't totally his fault.  But look at all that hay around him.  It didn't help that our booth was right next to FFA.  At one point I was going from one coworker to another trying to bum allergy meds.  Thank goodness for the geometry teacher.  After taking some Tylenol Allergy I felt much better...as long as I stayed on the opposite side of the gym.  Thankfully, today I feel much better. 

I'm off to catch up on blog commenting.  I'm at that point in the year where a lot of non-school things are being put on the backburner, whether or not I want them to be.  So if I normally comment, and you don't see me for a few posts, please don't think I've forgotten you!
