Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I am not one of those teachers that owns a horrendous sweater for every holiday.

Still, I did get decked out in my green today. On my terms.

Right down to the eyeshadow. Possibly the best $3 I have ever spent.

And I finished him! Then promptly gave him away at a baby shower. But the main thing is that I finished a crochet project that wasn't a scarf!

Sometimes I forget about things...like my blog, for instance.

In the Bess household at the moment, we're trying to keep from getting sick. We're doing a horrible job of that. Mike slept all day yesterday, and I slept most of the day today. We're achy and stuffy, and determined to go to work tomorrow. Ugh. Saddest part of it all: we were going to go out for Indian food with some friends after church. I'll have to put off that lassi craving for another week or so.

But potential good news on the Indian-restaurant front: our favorite place burned down a year ago, and I think I found the new restaurant...and it's closer!!! I really hope it's the same place, because it was the best!!!

So instead we watched a Lifetime movie that made me smack my forehead with every decision the protagonist made. Because it's a great idea to marry a powerful businessman you've known all of one weekend.

I'm crocheting again. Before this weekend, my skill level consisted of scarves. Nothing beyond a straight line. Now, I'm almost finished with this guy, and halfway finished with this guy. Because life is too short to only have one project going on at a time. :)

I got my hair cut on Friday. It had been a good 7 or 8 months since it had been cut last, and I'm so happy with the way it turned out! Here's a horrible photo that I took to share with my mom, but am now sharing with you because I'm too lazy to take a better one right now.

I think I have a weird profile.

Scrapbook pages to share! I think this is the first time I have shared all of these...it's been awhile, so if you see a double, just don't say anything, ok? :D

This was for the ScrapMojo challenge a couple of months ago.

The greatest day of antiquing ever.

The title says everything.

Our road trip to visit Mike's family in Ohio this past Christmas.

This post is significantly less morbid...

...than my previous post. Haha.

Do you have any goals for the new year? If so, check out the challenge that is up at The Pretty Committee! I didn't do this challenge, since I already spent two days listing my goals in a mini album. There's a nifty prize from Paper Trail Studio.

Oh, and my challenge is coming up on the 10th! I'm very excited about this one...it's been in my head for quite some time. :)

Let's see...we went back to school today. We were out all last week for snow, and then out again 2 1/2 days this week. I'm pretty happy to be back.

I scored some great deals at Maurices last night. Dude, I just love that store! I got this bag last night for a whopping $10.00! And two cute tops for $5 each. Clearance is a wonderful thing.

Have a great weekend! We missed the last two days of school, so I feel like I've already had mine. I'm happy the weather is going to be (and stay) warm...at least for the next week.

Ashes to ashes, moisture to moisture

The temperature soared into the 40s today.
Not good news for Herr Schneemann.
His head fell off.

Happy (and thankful) today

  • Tomorrow I get to go into town, after being snowed in all week!
  • The electricity only went out for a few minutes the other night.
  • I'm looking forward to our church's couples retreat in March. It's going to be a Fireproof study led by a local fire department chaplain. With some caving and hiking thrown in.
  • My back feels better after sledding on Wednesday.
  • I made two scrapbook pages last night.
  • Very thankful that my brother had a place to stay when his campus shut down. So blessed that a family was kind enough to take in a college student sight-unseen (or maybe smell-unsmelled, as he didn't have any hot water for a couple of days...)
  • Fun cabin-fever inspired discussions with Mike. "Do you think tri-cornered hats will ever make a comeback?"
  • The John Adams miniseries was very good, even for a non-history person like me. (Oh, and now the previous item kinda makes sense...)
  • There is a chicken strip in the refrigerator with my name on it.
Have a great Friday!

Meet Herr Schneemann

This is Herr Schneemann (Mr. Snowman). Mike suggested that we build a snowman today. I haven't done that in years, and it was so much fun!

Oh, and my friend Beth says Herr Schneemann looks like he's trying to make a move on me in that last photo. :)
